Internal Audit Analytics Advisor

Overview

This role requires significant data analytics experience, with proven ability to utilize data analysis methodologies and tools to increase the efficiency of the audit process and the value created for the business. This will require a strong partnership with members of the Internal Audit team to identify use cases for analytics and a strong partnership with business process owners, Information Technology (IT) professionals, and other analytics resources at the company to execute on meaningful analytics that drive value. As such, a creative and entrepreneurial mindset, critical thinking, broad perspective, and strong communication and interpersonal skills are imperative. This role will help Internal Audit draw from the Company’s data intriguing stories that will drive improved efficiency, enhancements to working capital management, and improved compliance and governance activities.

Responsibilities

Assist in the design and lead in the execution of a long-term Data Analytics & Continuous Auditing Roadmap for Internal Audit with a goal of enhancing IA’s maturity in the digital revolution and enhancing and sustaining the value that IA contributes to the business.

Design, develop, and test analytic solutions to support Internal Audit project activities:
o Partner with Internal Auditors to define analytical needs for their project activities, with a focus on expanding samples to the full population, smarter sampling techniques, audit efficiency, and valuable insights for the business from data trends and anomalies found in the data.
o Lead in the preparation / development and execution of data analytics procedures to support IA’s project activities. This includes locating, profiling, cleansing, analyzing, and validating activities.
o Apply query, data exploration, basic statistical methods, and visualization techniques to highlight value-driven business insights and / or improve data quality.
o Test the analytics leveraged in Internal Audit projects to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with user needs.
o Ensure the alignment of reasonable levels of workpaper evidence to support conformance with the Institute of Internal Auditors’ standards, further support the meaning behind the data, and to document analytics procedures for future use.
o Lead in the interpretation and “story-boarding” of analytics results, incorporating visualization and messaging on the meaning of the results of analytics and their impact to the business.
o Ensure a reasonable hand-off of data analytics procedures to the audit team to ensure the results are understood and aligned with audit team needs. Coordinate with the project lead to ensure alignment on next steps by IA and / or by business leaders.

Design, develop, and test analytic solutions to support a continuous auditing and predictive analytics strategy:
o Coordinate with the IA Management team on the scope, definition, and ongoing evolution of continuous auditing modules or platforms
o Lead in the preparation / development, execution, and validation / testing of continuous auditing modules or platforms, including the design of dashboards and visualizations to message the results
o Coordinating with Internal Audit team members, identify areas of action / resolution arising from the continuous auditing reports / outpu

Create partnerships across the company to leverage existing analytics and share audit-driven insights through continuous auditing:
o Identifies and partners with key contacts to locate and extract data for audit analytics and to understand the meaning and context of such pieces of data
o Collaborates with other data analytics resources and communities at the company to foster shared best practices and techniques that advance Zebra’s digital footprint
o Shares data-driven insights and visualizations with key stakeholders
o Supports IA and Compliance driven investigations, as needed

Serve as the liaison between Internal Audit, Information Technology, business process owners, and data governance teams to drive the availability and of accurate and complete data available for analytics and ongoing process and data improvement:
o Builds a knowledge overtime of Zebra’s data flow, the context of the available data and data owners
o Connects Internal Audit’s data needs with the respective business process owners and Information Technology professionals to drive timely data gathering
o Collaborates with data governance teams to align data requirements with the company’s data governance strategies

Educate Internal Audit teams on the use of analytics and the execution of more basic levels of analytics and visualizations across the Internal Audit department

Provides the Senior Internal Auditor(s), Internal Auditor(s) (and other team members, as relevant, such as Guest Auditors and Interns) with appropriate guidance, coaching, and performance evaluation during the course of and following project work and shares team member feedback with the team member’s respective Manager

Qualification

Preferred Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant major (Computer / Data Science, Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics / Statistics, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Accounting / Finance, etc.).
• Certifications in relevant area (i.e., CIA, CFE or othersuitable certification) or advanced degree are considered a plus.

Preferred Work Experience (years):
• Eight to twelve years of total relevant business experience.
• Minimum of two years’ experience with one or more data analytics or data visualization tools(i.e., Power BI, Tableau, Audit Command Language (ACL), IDEA, SQL, etc.) and with delivering complex data analytic assignments.
• Experience with database architecture and data modeling is a plus
• Experience with a major ERP system (i.e., Oracle, SAP, etc.) is a plus
